Fatal Merced County car crash death of Benjamin Loewen – Obituary
The Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office has identified the individual who lost his life in a tragic accident on Highway 59 as 28-year-old Benjamin Loewen from Winton, according to Deputy Alexandra Britton.
The incident occurred on Sunday when Loewen’s 1993 Honda coupe, traveling south on Highway 59 near Turlock Road at excessive speed, veered off course.
The vehicle, in an apparent attempt to overtake another car, spun out of control and collided with a tree on the east side of the road.
The California Highway Patrol confirmed that Loewen was declared dead at the scene. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crash to reach out to the Merced area CHP office at 209-356-6600.
