The incident occurred around 9:46 a.m. on July 26, when a 37-year-old woman, identified as Jenna Wolfe, was hit by a Norfolk Southern Train near South Tryon Street and West Woodlawn Road. Investigators believe Wolfe was lying on the railroad tracks at the time of the accident, according to an official press release.
Jenna Wolfe was pronounced dead at the scene. First responders found her on the tracks off South Peachtree Drive, officials confirmed.
Police have not released further details about the incident as of Friday afternoon, and the reason why Wolfe was on the tracks remains unclear.
