Emergency responders were dispatched to a tragic car accident in Baton Rouge on Saturday afternoon.
The collision, which occurred around 6 p.m., involved a head-on impact that led to the overturning of both vehicles. The crash resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left another injured.
According to Louisiana State Police, the victims were identified as Stefan Valentine, 34, and Claudette Holmes, 45. The accident took place on LA 30 when Valentine, traveling south in a 2004 Toyota 4-Runner, veered into the northbound lane and collided head-on with Holmes, who was driving a 2018 Mazda CX5.
While both drivers were declared deceased at the scene, a passenger in the Mazda was transported to the hospital. State police indicated that toxicology tests are being conducted on both drivers.
