Fatal Indianapolis crash death of Eamon Charles Goodrich – Obituary
A tragic accident on Thursday claimed the life of 9-year-old Eamon Charles Goodrich when a semi truck crashed into stopped traffic on I-465 in Indianapolis. The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the young victim.
The collision, reported at 5:20 p.m., prompted numerous urgent calls to 911 regarding a severe crash on southbound I-465 near U.S. 31. Indiana State Police arrived to find a car severely damaged, with one person unresponsive inside.
Initial investigations reveal that the semi truck driver did not reduce speed as he approached congested traffic, causing him to hit three passenger vehicles and another semi, according to police.
Eamon, who was seated in the back of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car sustained critical injuries and a 5-year-old girl, also in the car, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities from State Police attributed the crash to excessive speed and the driver’s failure to adhere to Federal Motor Carrier Regulations concerning hours of service. There is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.
As of now, no charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing with both investigators and Motor Carrier Inspectors involved.
