Fatal Egg Harbor Township, NJ Multi-Vehicle Crash Death of Escarlin Suriel – Obituary

In a tragic incident on Friday night in South Jersey, two individuals, including a pregnant woman, lost their lives in a devastating multi-vehicle collision. The accident occurred just before 8:30 p.m. on the 8000 block of the Black Horse Pike in the West Atlantic City area of Egg Harbor Township.

Police report that the crash began when a 2017 silver Nissan Sentra, traveling westbound, veered into the eastbound lanes. The vehicle then collided head-on with a 2018 Kia Forte, which was subsequently pushed into a 2020 red Nissan Sentra. A fourth vehicle, a 2019 silver Toyota Yaris, was hit by debris from the initial impact.

The collision caused the silver Nissan to burst into flames. Quick-thinking bystanders, including Lisa Bonanno, intervened to rescue those trapped in the burning vehicle. Bonanno recounted the chaos and the sense of urgency as she and others helped evacuate the car. “It was chaotic. No one was sure what to do,” Bonanno said. She expressed gratitude for the collective effort and the bravery of those who assisted.

Another hero of the night, Chris Wilson, who is now hospitalized for injuries, played a crucial role in pulling a juvenile from the flames. “Just hearing that kid yell like that… you could hear in his voice he wanted to live,” Wilson reflected.

Authorities have identified the deceased victims as 21-year-old Escarlin Suriel from Atlantic City, who was driving the Kia Forte and was eight months pregnant with her second child, and 22-year-old Gabriella Constrantino, a passenger in the silver Nissan.

Suriel’s husband, 27-year-old Francisco Nin, was seriously injured and taken to the hospital, along with other passengers from the involved vehicles. Two juveniles from the silver Nissan are in critical condition, while a 25-year-old male and two occupants from the red Nissan sustained minor injuries.

As investigations into the crash continue, Bonanno and Wilson reflect on the harrowing experience, with Bonanno expressing difficulty in coping with the aftermath and Wilson noting the surreal nature of the incident.
