Fatal Borders crash claims lives of Andrew Lartey, Georgia Tate, and Jason Gibbon – Obituary
Three people lost their lives in a tragic motorcycle collision in the Borders over the weekend. The victims, identified by police, include Andrew Lartey, 29, and his passenger, Georgia Tate, 23, both hailing from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. The accident occurred on Sunday between Bonchester Bridge and Carter Bar along the A6088. Another motorcyclist, Jason Gibbon, 37, from Northumberland, also died in the crash.
The weekend saw a series of road tragedies across Scotland, with eight people losing their lives in four separate incidents.
In a joint statement, the families of Mr. Lartey and Ms. Tate expressed their profound grief, saying, “We are devastated by the loss of Georgia and Andrew, they will be sorely missed by all who knew them. We ask for our privacy to be respected at this difficult time.”
Mr. Gibbon’s family also released a statement, mourning the loss of a “much loved son, brother, uncle, boyfriend, and devoted friend to many.” They added, “He will be greatly, sadly missed. We are comforted by the messages from many. We would like to ask for privacy to allow the family to grieve at this very difficult time.”
Sgt. Barry Sommerville of Police Scotland extended his condolences to the families and friends of those who died. He noted that investigations into the incident are ongoing and urged anyone with information to come forward.
This crash was one of several deadly accidents on Scotland’s roads over the weekend. Among the other victims was Candice Adam from Dalry, Ayrshire, who died after her motorcycle crashed on the A83 in Lochgilphead, Argyll and Bute, on Sunday. Earlier, two car crashes claimed the lives of three men in their 20s near Falkirk, and a 37-year-old man in South Ayrshire.
