Fatal Smiths Grove crash claims the life of Anthony Hodge – Obituary
A pedestrian who lost his life in a crash involving a semi-truck on I-65 near Smiths Grove, Kentucky, has been identified as Anthony Hodge, 36, of Bowling Green.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Tuesday when Kentucky State Police Post 3 responded to the scene near the 38-mile marker on Interstate 65. According to an initial investigation, Hodge was driving northbound in a red Kia Forte when his vehicle began to hydroplane due to wet road conditions. This caused him to lose control and hit the median wall.
After exiting his vehicle, which had come to a stop in the center lane, Hodge was struck by a red 2025 Freightliner driven by Alexander Kipnis, 64, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, who was also traveling northbound.
Anthony Hodge was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County Coroner’s Office. The roadway was temporarily closed following the accident, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
