Fatal Yakima County crash death of Isaiah Torres – Obituary
On Monday, a tragic two-vehicle collision west of Wiley City claimed the life of 29-year-old Isaiah Torres. Yakima County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the incident around 12:00 pm on Ahtanum Road, in the 13000 block, after receiving a report of a serious accident in the vicinity.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies discovered a silver 2005 Honda Civic on the north side of Ahtanum Road and a Kenworth power utility truck belonging to Power Technology Incorporated on the south side. The Kenworth truck had sustained significant damage.
Investigators revealed that Isaiah Torres, the driver of the Honda, was heading westbound on Ahtanum Road when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with the eastbound Kenworth. Torres, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the crash site, while the Kenworth driver sustained only minor injuries.
The cause of the crash remains undetermined, with the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division continuing its investigation.
Meanwhile, Yakima Police are still looking into a separate incident from last Friday involving a semi-truck collision at W Nob Hill Blvd and 40th Avenue.
The semi-truck, which was carrying Pepsi products, collided with a smaller truck and then struck a signal pole around 4:30 am. The semi-truck driver was transported to a Yakima hospital, but the driver of the smaller truck was unharmed. Initial reports suggest the semi-truck driver may have run a red light, but this has not been confirmed by the police.
