Authorities have identified the two men who tragically lost their lives when their light aircraft crashed into a field in North Yorkshire.
The victims were Matthew Bird, 21, who was piloting the two-seater plane, and Oliver Dawes, 24, the passenger. The crash occurred around 9:50 AM on Sunday in a remote area of Thorganby, near Selby.
Matthew Bird’s family from Spofforth expressed their profound grief, stating, “We have lost our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He will be deeply missed.”
Oliver Dawes’s relatives from Burley in Wharfedale mourned, saying, “We have lost a cherished son, cousin, nephew, and friend. Oliver’s memory will live on in our hearts as the kind, generous, and vibrant individual he was. His absence will be felt every day, and we are devastated by this loss.”
