Fatal St. Joseph County motorcycle crash death of Tyler Lee Smith – Obituary
Authorities have confirmed that Tyler Lee Smith, a 29-year-old resident of Baroda, was the motorcyclist killed in a collision with an Amazon semi-trailer on Wednesday evening.
The accident occurred just after 6:30 p.m. on State Road 2, near Chapel Lane, west of South Bend.
Reports suggest that the semi-trailer, operated by a 35-year-old driver from New Jersey, was attempting a U-turn when Smith’s motorcycle collided with the trailer. Smith was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries there.
The truck driver was unharmed and is reportedly cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team is handling the case.
