A tragic accident occurred when a car veered off the edge of California’s renowned Highway 1, plummeting several hundred feet and claiming the lives of all three occupants.
The grey two-door sedan plunged off the cliff shortly after 11 a.m. on Friday, according to a report from the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle came to a halt approximately 300 to 400 feet down an embankment near the notorious Devil’s Slide, known for its sharp turns and steep cliffs, situated around 15 miles south of San Francisco.
KTVU-TV images of the wreck depict the overturned car partially submerged in the water below.
Rescue teams who arrived at the scene on Friday managed to recover two of the bodies, with the third body being retrieved on Saturday after high tide made the conditions exceptionally perilous, as stated by the highway patrol.
The deceased have been identified as Brylyn Aroma, 36, from Fort Riley, Kansas, Mohammad Noory, 29, and Angelica Gacho, 28, both from San Francisco.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation.
