Fatal Burke shooting death of Morgan McRae and Hannah Griffin – Obituary
A tragic shooting in Burke has claimed the lives of Morgan McRae, 39, and Hannah Griffin, 31. McRae was discovered deceased in a bedroom of a residence situated near U.S. Highway 59, between Lufkin and Diboll, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Griffin, who was also shot, was transported to St. Luke’s Health-Memorial Lufkin by emergency services but was later pronounced dead.
The shooting was reported at 12:02 a.m. through a 911 call. Responding to the scene were deputies, EMS personnel, and officers from the Lufkin and Diboll Police Departments, as well as the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol.
A juvenile has been taken into custody at the Angelina County Juvenile Detention Facility and charged with capital murder in connection with the deaths. Investigators obtained a search warrant, processed the crime scene, and recovered the weapon used.
There were other children present in the home during the incident, and additional charges related to their endangerment are being considered. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown.
