Peter Ray, a yacht owner, and Lixen Wang, a brothel owner, were discovered deceased on a luxury yacht docked in Sydney’s northern suburbs on Wednesday night. Both in their 60s, they were found around 9 p.m. on a bed inside the 47-foot vessel named Taloha, which was stationed off Tunks Park in Cammeray.
Authorities reported that Ray and Wang arrived at the marina in separate vehicles, which were towed from the parking area the following day. The nature of their relationship remains unclear at this time.
According to Marine Area Command Detective Inspector Siobhan Munro, “The information we have indicates that they departed on the yacht on Monday.” Residents had observed lights and heard a generator running on the boat for several days before the discovery.
Concerns from a friend prompted the police to investigate, leading them to board the vessel. Upon arrival, officers detected a potential gas odor or fumes. Gas cylinders were among the items collected for forensic analysis.
The investigation is focusing on whether a carbon monoxide leak could have caused the deaths, though the case is currently being treated as suspicious. Nathaniel Murphy, a local boatie, noted that the deceased were recent clients and emphasized the importance of having carbon monoxide alarms on boats.
