Derrion Legrand of Greensboro, North Carolina, dies in fatal Triad crash
Fatal Triad crash claims the life of Derrion Legrand of Greensboro, North Carolina – Obituary
Derrion Legrand, a 15-year-old from Greensboro, North Carolina, has been identified as one of the victims in the tragic Triad crash, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The fatal incident took place on July 17 at approximately 2:15 a.m. when officers from the Greensboro Police Department were patrolling West Market Street. They observed a Nissan Altima driving in the wrong direction.
The officers attempted to stop the Altima, but the vehicle did not comply, leading to a pursuit.
The chase ended on Walker Avenue when the Altima collided head-on with a Greensboro PD patrol vehicle that was responding to the situation. A fire broke out after the collision.
Officers rescued Derrion Legrand and the other occupants from the Altima. Despite receiving immediate aid, Derrion and his companions died from their injuries at the scene.
The State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
