On Wednesday night, the tragic shooting at a residence on Charles Street resulted in the death of 30-year-old Ericka R. Brown. She was identified as a resident of the home located at 11 Charles St.
Authorities also reported that a man in his 40s, found at the scene and subsequently taken to a hospital, was suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His identity has not been disclosed, but he remains in critical condition and is under police custody.
The police discovered five children inside the home during their response. Fortunately, all the children, including three who were Brown’s own, were unharmed. They are currently receiving support from family members.
Officers were alerted to the incident around 8:21 p.m. on Wednesday, following a report of a woman having been shot. Upon arrival, they found Brown with a fatal gunshot wound to her head; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
