Lucius Clay Parker dies in fatal Glacier National Park rollover accident
Fatal Glacier National Park accident claims the life of Lucius Clay Parker – Obituary
Lucius Clay Parker, 34, from Ashford, Washington, tragically lost his life in a vehicle rollover on Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park on July 29. Originally from Mississippi, Parker had recently moved to Washington and was working as a seasonal employee at a private business in St. Mary at the time of the accident.
The incident was reported to Glacier National Park dispatch at approximately 11:48 p.m., with the accident occurring about 1.7 miles west of the St. Mary entrance. Rangers, along with Glacier County Sheriff, Montana Highway Patrol, and Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services, arrived on the scene by 12:08 a.m.
Parker, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was ejected and sustained a severe head injury. Due to poor weather conditions, ALERT and Mercy helicopters were unable to assist. Parker was initially transported by Babb ambulance to meet a Browning ambulance, which then took him to Blackfeet Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Montana Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the accident’s cause. Preliminary findings suggest that Parker was not wearing a seatbelt, and both alcohol and speed are believed to have contributed to the crash. The road conditions at the time were reported to be dry.
