Fatal Northeast shooting death of Ruben Jesus Munoz-Romero – Obituary
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating the fatal shooting of Ruben Jesus Munoz-Romero, a 38-year-old resident of Takoma Park, Maryland. The incident occurred on the evening of July 29, 2024, at around 7:56 p.m. in the 400 block of Michigan Avenue, Northeast.
According to MPD, officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a man who had fallen off a moped. Upon arrival, they provided medical aid and discovered the man had sustained a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting did not take place in the vicinity of Catholic University’s campus. It appears that Munoz-Romero had traveled on his moped to the location where he was found injured.

MPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the homicide.
