Fatal Lake County ambush shooting death of Bradley Michael Link – Obituary

A central Florida deputy, Bradley Michael Link, was killed and two others were injured in a late-night ambush on Friday in Lake County, according to Sheriff Peyton Grinnell. The deputies were responding to a disturbance call when the incident occurred around 8 p.m. in Eustis, roughly 40 miles north of Orlando.Sheriff Grinnell explained during a Saturday morning press briefing that deputies initially responded to one home but were redirected to another location where the real disturbance was taking place. Upon reaching the second residence, they discovered a back door that had been forced open and heard noises inside. As they attempted to enter, they were met with a barrage of gunfire.The first deputy to enter the home was injured and became trapped inside, while another deputy managed to escape. When additional officers arrived and tried to rescue their colleague, they were also met with heavy gunfire, resulting in another deputy being hit.Ultimately, two deputies sustained injuries in the confrontation, and Master Deputy Sheriff Bradley Michael Link, who had been trapped inside, later died from his wounds.
