A tragic car accident in Queensland’s Western Downs has claimed the lives of a father and his two children. The family of four was traveling on Dalby Jandowae Road in Jimbour East, north of Dalby, when their sedan was allegedly rear-ended around 11 a.m. on Monday.
The two children, Ocean, 15, and Warrior, 8, were in the backseat and suffered fatal injuries. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by 7News.
Their 54-year-old father, Phil, who was in the front seat, also died at the scene. His wife, Krystal, was critically injured and transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where she remains in critical condition with chest, abdominal, and arm injuries.
In a heartfelt social media post, relative Storm Reddacliff shared a GoFundMe campaign to support funeral expenses and his own well-being.
“In memory of my beloved family who tragically passed away in a car accident on Jimbour East Road from Jandowae, I humbly ask for your support,” Reddacliff wrote. He expressed deep appreciation for any contributions to help him navigate this challenging period and honor their memory.
The driver of the LandCruiser ute that allegedly struck the family’s car from behind was taken to Dalby Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later transferred to Toowoomba Hospital in serious condition.
The Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the accident. Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads, noting that over 130 people have died on Queensland roads this year. “People on the road need to obey the rules and drive to the conditions,” he emphasized.
