Fatal Ira car crash claims the lives of Shelby and Hailey Trumble – Obituary.
Sisters Shelby Trumble, 17, and Hailey Trumble, 19, tragically lost their lives in a car accident on Thursday in the town of Ira, as confirmed by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred when the Trumbles’ 2005 Chevy Cobalt was heading east on Ira Hill Road, near the Farnam Road intersection. Their vehicle veered over a hill and into the opposite lane, where it collided with a 2016 Jeep Cherokee driven by 59-year-old Robin Latham. Sadly, both Shelby and Hailey succumbed to their injuries from the crash, while Latham was rushed to Upstate Universal Hospital with severe injuries and remains in critical condition.
The sisters are survived by their parents, Brian Wallace and Tina Huggins Trumble, along with their brother, Riley Trumble, and other family members. Their obituaries note that donations in their memory can be made to the CNY Cat Coalition.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by the family, with a heartfelt message from their father and brother, Brian and Riley Trumble, expressing their deep sorrow and need during this unimaginable loss. The message recounts how the teens, both graduates of the Hannibal Central School District, were involved in the tragic accident that claimed their lives. The family is seeking support for funeral and medical expenses, having lost their beloved daughters, sisters, granddaughters, and nieces all at once. They extend their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of kindness, love, and support during this devastating time.
Private funeral services and burials are planned for Shelby and Hailey, but calling hours will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Traub Funeral Home in Central Square.
