Fatal North Las Vegas car crash claims the life of 9-year-old Sophia Sandoval – Obituary
The Clark County coroner’s office has identified Sophia Sandoval, a 9-year-old girl from Porterville, California, as the victim of a tragic car crash over the weekend in North Las Vegas.
Authorities were called to the scene of a collision between two vehicles at the intersection of Simmons Street and West Ann Road at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, they found Sophia unresponsive. She was immediately taken to University Medical Center Pediatrics Hospital, but despite the efforts of medical staff, she was pronounced dead.
The coroner confirmed that Sophia died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver involved, 63-year-old Christina Sorensen, exhibited signs of impairment at the scene. Sorensen was subsequently arrested and booked into the North Las Vegas Community Correctional Center on charges including DUI resulting in death, reckless driving resulting in death, and child endangerment resulting in death.
