On Monday, the Oklahoma City Police Department identified the 47-year-old man who was shot and killed by officers early Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 3:10 a.m. on the 7000 block of Eagles Landing, close to Southeast 70th Street and South Sooner Road.
Authorities had been called to the scene in response to a report of a man, later identified as Brandon Lena, who was reportedly suicidal and armed with a gun.
At the scene, Lena was observed with a pistol and had allegedly expressed a desire for officers to shoot him. Despite their efforts to deescalate the situation over the course of nearly an hour—including the use of non-lethal 40 mm impact rounds—Lena did not comply with commands.
Around 4:10 a.m., Lena reportedly aimed his weapon at the officers, who then fired, resulting in his death. No officers were harmed during the incident.
