Over the weekend in Highland, California, a road rage incident led to the deaths of two men, Jonathan McConnell, 38, and Aaron Harris, 37. The confrontation unfolded in front of children and began with a hit-and-run accident on Saturday night, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident began when McConnell, riding a motorcycle and maneuvering between lanes on the 210 Freeway, collided with a sedan driven by Harris. Harris was accompanied by his 2- and 5-year-old children at the time.
Authorities reported that Harris followed McConnell off the freeway and into a parking lot in front of Joy Lounge in Highland, roughly 68 miles from Los Angeles. McConnell, who was meeting acquaintances at the location, and Harris, both armed, began to argue.
According to the sheriff’s office, Harris stopped his vehicle and issued threats towards McConnell. As McConnell approached Harris’s vehicle, Harris fired his gun at McConnell, who then returned fire.
