Fatal Paramount shooting death of Julio Palomares – Obituary
On the night of Sunday, August 4, a tragic incident unfolded in a Paramount backyard when at least one deputy shot and killed Julio Palomares, who was reportedly wielding a pair of scissors.
Deputies were called to the scene on the 8400 block of Quimby Street just after 9 p.m. in response to a report of a family dispute and alleged battery.
According to authorities, Palomares, 30, had assaulted his father during an argument and was subsequently described as aggressively advancing toward deputies while holding scissors approximately 8 inches long.
Although deputies used a Taser in an attempt to subdue him, it was ineffective.
Firefighters provided immediate care to Palomares at the scene, but he was pronounced dead shortly after. Sheriff’s officials have yet to disclose how many deputies discharged their weapons during the confrontation.
