Fatal Cedar Glen shooting death of Laura Ann Carleton – Obituary
Laura Ann Carleton, a California clothing store owner and designer, was tragically killed in an incident on Friday evening outside her business in Cedar Glen, a community in San Bernardino County near Lake Arrowhead.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred after the suspect allegedly removed a Pride flag from her store and made homophobic comments before opening fire.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Travis Ikeguchi, was later found dead following a confrontation with sheriff’s deputies. After the shooting, Ikeguchi fled on foot but was located by authorities several miles away from the scene.
He was fatally shot during a standoff after he allegedly fired at deputies, who returned fire. Ikeguchi was armed with a Smith & Wesson 9mm automatic handgun and had ignored commands to surrender.
The deputies involved in the incident were unharmed. Carleton, a mother of nine, was killed outside her Cedar Glen store around 5 p.m. on Friday.
