Fatal Eagle Pass crash death of Noemi Jimenez Martinez and family – Obituary
The deadly collision occurred around 8 p.m. on Tuesday when a 2019 FedEx box truck, traveling eastbound on US 57 just outside of Eagle Pass, collided head-on with a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe going westbound.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety and local news outlets, the FedEx truck veered into oncoming traffic just after 7:50 p.m.
The crash resulted in the deaths of Noemi Jimenez Martinez, 61, and three other family members, including Jose Martinez, 71; Joanna Martinez, 34; and Samantha Martinez, 25.
A 10-year-old girl, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to Fort Duncan Medical Center but passed away from her injuries en route.
The FedEx driver, who was injured, was also taken to Fort Duncan Medical Center. FedEx has issued a statement expressing their condolences: “Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic accident.
We offer our deepest sympathies to the families and friends mourning this loss. We are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation as safety remains our highest priority.”
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the cause of the crash. Additional information is being sought from the Texas DPS.
