Fatal Wilmington shooting death of Alondra Quinonez – Obituary
Delaware State Police are continuing their probe into a weekend shooting that resulted in the death of Alondra Quinonez and the subsequent fatality of the suspect involved.
Alondra Quinonez, aged 22 from Wilmington, was discovered in a burning residence on Limestone Road after being shot on Sunday. Authorities later identified and located the suspect, Francisco Vasquez, a 57-year-old from Milford, who had ascended a high-voltage electrical tower near the C-and-D Canal. When troopers confronted Vasquez, he fired upon them, prompting three troopers to return fire. Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officers involved in the shooting are currently on administrative leave while the use-of-force incident is under review by the Delaware Department of Justice.
Preliminary reports suggest that Vasquez forcibly entered his ex-partner’s home, discharging multiple rounds. Quinonez was struck by the gunfire, while another man present was not hit. Vasquez’s ex-partner was absent at the time of the shooting.
The victim, Quinonez, was identified as Vasquez’s former stepdaughter.
