Fatal Lexington car crash death of Billy Gene Messer – Obituary
A tragic accident in Lexington claimed the life of 67-year-old Billy Gene Messer. According to a press release from the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, Messer was struck and killed by an SUV at the intersection of Man O’ War Boulevard and Beaver Creek Drive on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred around 8:27 AM when the SUV driver allegedly ran a red light, entering the intersection and hitting Messer, who was crossing the street within the designated crosswalk.
Lexington Fire and EMS responded to the scene, but Messer was pronounced dead upon their arrival. The coroner’s office reported that Messer died from multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
The coroner has ruled the death as accidental, though no further details about the driver or possible charges have been released at this time.
