A Guatemalan teenager, Débora Rebeca Xi Artola, tragically lost her life after accidentally coming into contact with high-voltage cables, leading to a fatal electric shock. The incident occurred when the 15-year-old was on a rooftop in the El Centro area of Alta Verapaz.
Reports indicate that Débora, while practicing dance moves with friends, inadvertently touched the live wires and was electrocuted. According to local fire officials and Spanish-language media, her fall from the rooftop, about six meters (nearly 20 feet), resulted in her decapitation due to the intense current.
Neighbors reported that the teens were on the roof when Débora slipped and encountered the cables. A video of the moments preceding the accident, shared on social media, shows the group on the roof just before the tragic event.
Débora was declared deceased at the scene. Her mother, Andrea Xi, has shared heartfelt tributes on Facebook, including a poignant post featuring a photo of Débora from her quinceañera, and messages expressing her deep love and loss. Erik Artola, a relative, honored Débora with a touching TikTok tribute, showcasing memories of her life.
