Kent Smith dies in fatal Coatesville crash
Fatal Coatesville crash death of Kent Smith – Obituary
On Wednesday, Kent Smith, a 67-year-old resident of Coatesville, Indiana, tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. 40 and State Road 240, as reported by Indiana State Police.
At approximately 4:20 p.m., Smith was driving a 2004 Lexus eastbound on U.S. 40 after coming from southbound State Road 240. He failed to notice a 2021 Ford pickup truck heading westbound on U.S. 40, operated by 59-year-old Charlie Slicer Jr. from Quincy, Indiana. Despite Slicer’s attempt to avoid the collision, the impact was unavoidable. The crash caused the Lexus to veer off the road, overturn, and come to rest on its roof.
Smith sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the Putnam County Coroner’s Office. His relatives have been informed. Investigations suggest that neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the accident.
