Fatal Arvin crash death of Osman Obdulio Gradiz Lopez – Obituary
On August 5, Osman Obdulio Gradiz Lopez, a 40-year-old resident of Arvin, tragically lost his life following a car accident southwest of Arvin, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
The incident occurred around 5:42 a.m. at the intersection of Herring Road and South Edison Road, where Lopez was a left rear passenger in a Toyota Corolla.
As reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a 24-year-old driver from Arvin was heading southbound on South Edison Road in a 2007 Toyota Corolla. He approached a stop sign at the intersection with Herring Road but did not fully stop, only slowing to approximately 10 to 15 mph.
At the same time, a 59-year-old Arvin man was driving a 2023 Toyota Tacoma westbound on Herring Road at around 55 mph. There were no stop signs for the Toyota Tacoma at this intersection. The Tacoma collided with the left side of the Corolla when the younger driver entered the intersection.
The collision caused significant damage, and Lopez, who was severely injured, was transported to Kern Medical. Despite medical efforts, he passed away at the hospital just after 7:20 p.m., as confirmed by the coroner’s office.
