Authorities in Northern California are investigating the death of 56-year-old Davina Corbin, who is believed to have been killed by a dog attack while walking on Blackhawk Trail in Feather Falls.
At approximately 2 a.m. on Thursday, Butte County deputies responded to a call reporting a deceased individual on the trail. Upon arrival, they discovered Corbin’s body and later confirmed her identity.
An autopsy conducted by a forensic pathologist revealed multiple bite marks and injuries, indicating that Corbin’s death resulted from a dog mauling. Further analysis showed her clothing was covered in DNA from domestic dogs. The lab is continuing to investigate to identify the specific dogs involved in the attack.
During the investigation, deputies executed a search warrant at a residence on Blackhawk Trail, located near the scene. They discovered around 25 Great Danes at the property. Authorities spent the day capturing the dogs, with 23 now in custody of Butte County Animal Control. Efforts are ongoing to capture the remaining two dogs.
Feather Falls is situated nearly 100 miles northeast of Sacramento, east of Lake Oroville.
