Fatal Notasulga shooting death of Javion Gary – Obituary

A shooting in Notasulga on Thursday evening along Union Camp Road resulted in the death of one Loachapoka High School student and left another injured, according to officials.

Macon County Coroner Hal Bentley confirmed the identity of the deceased as 16-year-old Javion Gary. His body has been transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy.

The condition of the second victim, a 17-year-old male, has not been disclosed, but Lee County Sheriff Jones stated on Friday that the teenager is expected to survive.

“Our hearts go out to the families and everyone affected by this tragedy. This is, unfortunately, another instance of violence involving our youth and firearms,” Sheriff Jones told the Opelika-Auburn News.

The incident took place between 7:15 and 8 p.m. on Thursday, according to statements from both Bentley and Jones. Sheriff Jones mentioned on Friday that he could not confirm whether any arrests had been made or if there were any suspects at this time.
