Fatal Cobb County, Georgia, police shooting death of Nathan Jenkins – Obituary.
Late Friday night, a man identified as Nathan Jenkins was fatally shot by police inside a Walgreens in Cobb County, Georgia. Jenkins was reportedly a wanted suspect at the time of the incident.
The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. at a Walgreens located at 2670 Cobb Parkway SE. According to the Cobb County Police Department, officers had located Jenkins inside the store. He was allegedly armed, and during the confrontation, police fired on Jenkins, who was later declared dead at Kennestone Hospital.
A woman who was on a video call with Jenkins during the incident claimed that Jenkins had his hands raised and was repeatedly telling the officers so. She stated that the officers reacted by shooting after they thought they saw a gun as Jenkins’ shirt lifted slightly with his raised arms.
A person who knew Jenkins described him as someone who was always cheerful and drew people to him with his positive energy.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is now overseeing the investigation into the shooting. Authorities have yet to officially confirm Jenkins’ identity or provide additional details.
