CRANSTON, R.I. — Authorities have confirmed the identity of a 77-year-old woman who tragically lost her life in a driveway accident on Friday night. Emergency services arrived at 41 Strathmore Road around 7:40 p.m. to find the woman unresponsive at the end of the driveway. Despite immediate CPR and other critical interventions, she was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.
The victim, Lundy Braun of Cranston, was struck by a vehicle driven by a 25-year-old woman from Pawtucket. Both the driver and her passenger stayed at the scene and assisted with the investigation. According to police, the driver was reversing and did not notice Braun until after the collision. Once aware, she quickly sought help.
Cranston Police Chief Michael Winquist stated that the driver showed no signs of impairment, and the vehicle, a 2009 Toyota Highlander, was impounded for further examination. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
Chief Winquist expressed condolences to Braun’s family and acknowledged the emotional impact on both the victim’s loved ones and those involved in the accident.
