Fatal Canoe Creek death of Roger Dale Whisman – Obituary
The death of Roger Dale Whisman of Ashville, St. Clair County, who was reported missing on August 9, was confirmed after his remains were discovered in Canoe Creek.
Authorities responded to the area of Rainbow Drive and Riddles Bend Road around 3:50 p.m. on Friday after Whisman was reported missing. The Rainbow City Police and Fire Departments, along with the Etowah County Dive Team, searched the waterway and nearby areas. The search continued into Saturday morning, and at 12:49 p.m., Whisman’s remains were found downstream from the initial search location.
The circumstances surrounding his death are still under investigation. His body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Huntsville for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
