Fatal Calgary-area shooting death of Colin Hough – Obituary
A shooting east of Calgary on August 6 resulted in the death of an individual and left another injured. Strathmore RCMP responded to reports of a shooting involving two armed suspects at Township Road 250 and Range Road 282, situated approximately 10 kilometers east of Calgary, just before noon.
Upon arrival, officers found two victims: one deceased and the other with minor injuries.
On August 12, RCMP reported the arrest of one suspect, who remains in custody with charges pending. Authorities also issued an arrest warrant for the second suspect, identified as 28-year-old Elijah Blake Strawberry. Strawberry is described as having a light complexion, several tattoos on his arms and face, brown hair, and stands about 6’1″ (185 cm) tall and weighs 169 pounds (76 kg). He is considered armed and dangerous, and the public is urged to contact 911 if he is spotted.

The suspects reportedly fled in a white half-ton pickup truck, later discovered abandoned near Township Road 252 and Range Road 260. The suspects were no longer in the vicinity.
The deceased has been identified as Colin Hough, an employee of Rocky View County. Rocky View County expressed deep sadness over Hough’s death, describing it as a tragic outcome of the incident. The other shooting victim, who sustained a superficial wound, is an employee of Fortis Alberta. Fortis Alberta confirmed that the injured man was conducting routine work at the time.
