Rockford police are seeking public assistance following a tragic shooting on Saturday night in a bustling shopping area.
Chase Higgins, 27, was pronounced dead after being struck multiple times by gunfire, according to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office.
The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. on August 24, when officers responded to reports of a shooting in a parking lot along E. State Street, near Perryville Road, during a large gathering.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Higgins was involved in a confrontation with others before the shooting occurred.
