Fatal Blanco County crash claims the life of Marine 1st Lt. Connor McKim – Obituary

The accident that tragically ended the lives of a Fort Worth CEO and his two children in November also claimed the life of 25-year-old Marine 1st Lt. Connor McKim, as reported by the Texas Departments of Public Safety and Transportation.

The crash occurred on U.S. 281 near Round Mountain and Johnson City in Blanco County when McKim’s Toyota Tacoma drifted from the northbound lane into the southbound lane, colliding head-on with an SUV carrying the Muckleroy family. Following this impact, the Muckleroy vehicle was struck by a third car, which subsequently rolled over before coming to rest upright.

Investigators are still unsure why McKim’s truck crossed into oncoming traffic, though a DPS official confirmed that alcohol was not suspected to be a factor.

The collision, which occurred on November 22, resulted in the deaths of Zach Muckleroy and his two children, 12-year-old Judson and 9-year-old Lindsay. Zach’s wife, Lauren Muckleroy, survived the crash and has since been discharged from the hospital.

Originally from Spicewood, McKim was a dedicated first lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He had a passion for learning, excelled in cooking, volunteered with the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, and was musically inclined, having learned to play trombone in his high school marching band.

McKim, who was born in Rowlett, graduated from Lake Travis High School in Austin and later from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He attended flight school at NAS Pensacola and was recently stationed at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi.

Family and friends remember McKim for his unwavering work ethic, infectious smile, and great sense of humor.

McKim’s memorial service took place on December 9 in Austin.

A service celebrating the lives of Zach, Judson, and Lindsay Muckleroy is scheduled for this Friday at 5 p.m. at University Christian Church in Fort Worth. A private family burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park.

Zach Muckleroy, 44, was the CEO of Muckleroy & Falls, a construction company based in Fort Worth.
