Fatal Pierce County crash claims the life of Elijah Williams – Obituary
Two men who tragically lost their lives in a Pierce County collision two weeks ago have been identified by the authorities.
Jaziel Zepeda, 19, was reportedly driving his white BMW at a high speed on Canyon Road East in Summit View on August 14 when he ran a red light, crashing into a Mercedes sedan driven by 21-year-old Elijah Williams. The impact caused both vehicles to burst into flames, leaving them fully engulfed.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office is still determining the exact cause and manner of Zepeda’s death, pending further investigation. Williams, however, was confirmed to have died from blunt trauma, with his death being classified as accidental.
According to witnesses, Zepeda’s BMW was seen racing other vehicles further south on Canyon Road. A 911 caller reported the BMW traveling at 130 miles per hour. Investigators noted the absence of brake marks, indicating that Zepeda did not attempt to stop before the collision.
Elijah Williams, remembered as a kind and compassionate individual, had a GoFundMe established to assist his family with funeral expenses following this tragic loss.
