Fatal San Diego drowning death of Kevin Dignan – Obituary
San Diego authorities have revealed the identity of the man who drowned in Pacific Beach late Sunday night as Kevin Dignan, a 24-year-old from Austin, Texas. Dignan was in San Diego visiting friends when the tragic incident occurred.
Reports indicate that around 3 a.m. on Sunday, Dignan and a companion were swimming near Santa Rita Place and Lifeguard Tower 22 in Pacific Beach. While his friend resurfaced, Dignan did not, prompting a search by the group. They eventually found Dignan unresponsive on the shore a few yards away.
Despite their attempts to perform life-saving measures, paramedics and police arrived too late to save him. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Dignan’s death was accidental, caused by drowning linked to a cervical spine fracture resulting from blunt force trauma to his head and neck.
