Fatal Cary, NC crash death of Robert McKinnon – Obituary
Robert McKinnon, 67, of Cary, tragically lost his life in a head-on collision on North Carolina Highway 55.
The crash, which occurred just before 1 p.m. between Mahal Avenue and the entrance ramp to 540, involved two SUVs.
According to Cary Police, McKinnon was driving southbound when his vehicle drifted into the northbound lanes, colliding head-on with another SUV.
Both vehicles caught fire as a result of the impact.
McKinnon was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other SUV, identified as 55-year-old Xiucheng Feng of Apex, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Authorities have not released further details as the investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
