In June 2020, a semi-truck driver collided with halted vehicles at the Highway 99 and Neal Road intersection, claiming the lives of David Sims and Lupe Ortiz, both aged 55 and from Los Molinos.
On August 26, 2024, Jobanjit Singh, a 26-year-old from Sacramento, was convicted of vehicular manslaughter in connection with the incident.
The verdict came after a misdemeanor jury trial. Singh is scheduled for sentencing on October 22, 2024.
