Fatal San Diego drowning death of Kevin Dignan – Obituary
Authorities have released the identity of the man who drowned while swimming in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego. The victim, Kevin Dignan, a 24-year-old from Austin, Texas, was in San Diego visiting friends when the incident occurred.
Around 3 a.m. on Sunday, Dignan and a friend were swimming near Santa Rita Place and Lifeguard Tower 22 in Pacific Beach. While his friend surfaced safely, Dignan was not found and was later discovered unresponsive on the shore several yards away. Despite efforts from his friends to perform life-saving measures, he was declared dead upon the arrival of paramedics and police.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that Dignan’s death was due to accidental drowning, resulting from a cervical spine fracture caused by a blunt force injury to his head and neck.
