Fatal Lake George drowning death of Rupak R. Padini – Obituary
LAKE GEORGE – On August 27, Rupak R. Padini, a 25-year-old college student from Pennsylvania, tragically drowned while visiting Lake George with friends. Padini, a native of India, was part of a group that reported distress near Lamb Shanty Bay, situated south of Gulf Bay. Although Lamb Shanty Bay is within the Warren County Town of Hague, its shoreline extends into the Washington County Town of Putnam.
At approximately 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible drowning report. Deputies found a group in distress near the shore at Lamb Shanty Bay, but there was no direct involvement of any watercraft in the incident.
Rescue efforts were initially successful in saving the group, but Padini was later discovered missing. Marine units subsequently recovered Padini’s body from the water. Despite immediate life-saving attempts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the drowning incident continues. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Lake George Park Commission, North Queensbury Volunteer Fire Company, Hague Volunteer Fire Department, Bolton Volunteer Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services, and LifeNet of New York.
