A 20-year-old man from Oakland, Yovani De Paz Jeronimo, drowned in the South Yuba River on Sunday, according to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. when California State Parks was alerted to an unresponsive person at Kneebone Beach in the Bridgeport area.
Despite efforts by bystanders and first responders to save him, Jeronimo was pronounced dead at the scene.
