Fatal North Fresno shooting death of Aaliyah Bonman – Obituary
Fresno, California – A fatal confrontation turned tragic on Saturday night when Aaliyah Bonman, 19, was shot and killed in a parking lot at a Rite Aid in North Fresno. The incident began as a planned physical altercation between Bonman and 21-year-old Penelope Mehr.
According to Lieutenant Paul Cervantes, the two women had a history of disputes. They had attended a rap concert and visited a hookah lounge near Johnny Quik Food Store & Liquor on Cedar Avenue before agreeing to fight at the Rite Aid.
Around 3 a.m., officers responded to the scene at Cedar Avenue and Nees Avenue and discovered Bonman with a gunshot wound to her upper body. She was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Detectives have determined that Mehr was the shooter, using a gun supplied by 18-year-old Nevaeh Solomon, who remains at large. The weapon used in the shooting was confirmed to have been in Solomon’s possession.
The incident was captured on video by a bystander who was familiar with both women. Fresno Police have not yet released the footage as it is part of the ongoing investigation.
