Fatal Chehalis workplace accident death of Karl J. Keller II – Obituary
Karl J. Keller II, 65, from Chehalis, tragically passed away from blunt force trauma in an accident at Braun Northwest Inc. on August 2. The Lewis County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that the death was accidental.
The incident occurred at the company’s headquarters at 150 Northstar Road. On that morning, Keller was working under a vehicle when another employee, unaware of his presence, accidentally ran over him, according to Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Special Services Chief Gabriel Frase.
The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) is currently conducting a workplace fatality assessment and control evaluation (WA FACE) to investigate the incident’s causes. This process, which is voluntary for employers and may take up to six months, aims to determine the underlying factors contributing to the accident.
Braun Northwest Inc. owner John Braun expressed his sorrow, stating, “We are deeply saddened by this tragic event and are committed to cooperating with Labor and Industries and the sheriff’s office to understand what happened. Our thoughts and condolences are with Karl’s family, loved ones, and coworkers during this difficult time.”
The findings of the WA FACE evaluation will be available online once completed at the L&I website.
