Fatal Troy, Texas car crash claims the life of 42-year-old Maricruz Wieland of Austin.
On Wednesday night, a tragic accident occurred on Interstate 35 near mile marker 309 in Troy, Texas. The victim, identified as 42-year-old Maricruz Wieland from Austin, lost her life in the crash.
The incident took place at approximately 9:44 p.m. when a vehicle was discovered engulfed in flames in the inside lane of southbound I-35. Authorities found a single occupant, who had been ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators revealed that the four-door passenger car was heading south on the I-35 service road at a high speed when it veered off the road, crossing into the grassy median between the main lanes and the service road.
The car reportedly traveled several hundred feet through the median before hitting the concrete and rocks on the north side of Big Elm Creek. The impact is believed to have launched the vehicle airborne, causing it to land on the south side of the creek embankment, roll onto the Interstate’s main lanes, and catch fire.
