**Fatal Baton Rouge shooting death of Martelle Hamilton – Obituary
A tragic shooting occurred at Uncle Moe’s Food Mart and Deli on the afternoon of August 29, resulting in the death of 22-year-old Martelle Hamilton. The incident took place near the intersection of Plank Road and Hollywood Street around 5:30 p.m.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, Hamilton was involved in a physical altercation with an unidentified man. Following the fight, the man reportedly retrieved a firearm and, as Hamilton was heading back to his car, began shooting at him multiple times. Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Violent Crimes Division at 225-389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867. The case is currently under active investigation.
